So long as all the increased wealth which modern progress brings goes to build up great fortunes, to increase luxury and make sharper the contrast between the House of Haves and the House of Want, progress is not real and cannot be permanent.

Henry George (1839–1897), American social reformer, Progress and Poverty (1879), Jay p.150

How real is any progress you think has been made on your watch, in favor of the House of Want? Or have you been better for the House of Haves?

What amazes is that so much of what is advertised that can only be afforded by the wealthiest in society is on view at any newsstand—or other media. Surely these advertisers realize this constant reminder of the spread between the House of Haves and the House of Want will not go unchallenged forever. Or is that observation a promotion of “class warfare”? If so, I do apologize.
