All is flux, according to Heraclitus (which must be true, or politics would be unnecessary). And the left—being more comfortable than the right when it comes to change—is always on the qui vive, seeking solutions to issues as they reveal themselves. But if some change must be addressed and the legislature is beset by faction, common ground can only be found in the center of the political spectrum. Berlin places himself in the sweet spot.
